So, I'm willingly to throw a lot of cash, or throw a lot of cash into A pre-amp.

It is mainly to get great recordings, at the moment I'm using an apogee duet with universal audio solo110 and SPL dynamaxx compressor.

It should be mainly a preamp for solo-use.

It should be a preamp with some sort of really crisp sound in the highs.

Perhaps TC-electronics more digital sound http://www.thomann.de/dk/tc_electronic_rh_450.htm or a more tube sound AMPEG http://www.thomann.de/dk/ampeg_svt2pro.htm

You are the master of your own sound.

Get yourself a nice tablet pc (multitouch) a good interface, and enjoy the plugin modelers that recording studios are using.
