I've been doing a lot of research on getting a new amp and have been looking mostly at GK or Ampeg.

I'm looking for someone to give me some other options. What are some other brands that I shouldn't overlook and that won't break the bank completely.

I'm looking to spend no more than $700 and I'm open to combos or head/cab setups. Used or new. This will be my first step up in power. I just have a little rumble practice amp now. I'd like something that could hang in a small venue (garage, home, small movie theater/club). Two guitarists, drummer and vocalist.

Give me something else to think about.

Not my favorites but in the spirit of good amps that are not too expensive, Peavey, Carvin, Traynor. That will get you a start.

Acoustic? +1 for Traynor; I've got one of their guitar amps and it kicks butt. Also check out Markbass and Eden.

+1 Peavey and Carvin, you could get a head/cab or a loud combo for $700 or less. I'm leaning towards the Carvin.

Acoustic is great for the money. Nice warm classic tone.

If you take your time and shop around there are some good deals out there. I picked up a Hartke LH500 head and a Hartke Hydrive cab along with a Korg DTR 1000 rack tuner and a power conditioner in a SKB rack case for $600.00. So don't forget about Hartke.

How about one of those Genz-Benz streamliners? I saw Ed Friedland do a demo of one on youtube and I've been wanting one ever since.
