You know....when men were men and no one minded carting a big rig to a job....but then again, in those days, we also carted a Hammond B3, a leslie 145, our own PA (Altec voice of the theater cabs - 4 of them) and a ginormous drum kit...Marshall stacks, etc etc....and, we had to fit all of that into a Chevy van!
Hell, the bass rig was actually the "easy" part!

Our keyboard player is still luggin' his B3 and Leslie cab around! When it comes down to it, nothin' sounds like the real thing. |

We DID have a few jobs that included stairs and then it was a challenge, but hey! We were young and really didn't give much of a damn.....
But seriously, I absolutely hate it when I see a Rock and Roll outfit with little boxes on the stage.....I dunno, it just seems to take some of that "badass" visualization out of the equation. I mean, they still sound fine, but it always seems like something is missing....on the "other" hand, bands (like KISS) for example, that have banks of phony amps sitting on stage are just ridiculous (IMO)

Add a P Bass with a fresh set of heavy nickel rounds and boom! | I finally jammed with this for the first time tonight and WOW! I really loved playing one of these with my SVT but two REALLY opens it up. Everything sounds just a little smoother, thicker, and even more present in the mix without being that much louder... My '65 Jazz is REALLY nasty sounding, and the SVT /w 6146B's has some more bite and grit too... pair that with 16 low power Alnicos and I totally take the place of a guitar and bass. Loving it. |
