They're so midrangey and gritty. I really love jumping channels at about half volume each.

As for the year, I'm really not sure, but I'm assuming '70? 6146B's in it, 6146B/6550 tube chart, no tube relay, but I never did check pot codes.

Never change out the 6146b's for 6550's, bro. Good NOS 6146b's are widely available and cheap and totally cool to run in SVT's. Just don't go messing with the power supply caps when it's plugged in...those are a total shock hazard. Excellent score.

Oh, never.

I've had the amp and one cab for 3 years now, but I just recently had the amp fully serviced and cleaned with a NOS set of GE 6146B's from a GREAT tech and it sounds better, louder, and runs quieter than ever. Only the second cabinet is new this week, but I'm really excited about the rig as a whole. I can't wait to get my Hiwatt back (getting some work done on the impedence selector) and slam those cabs HARD.

Ah, so that was yours. My 1970 blue line is in for a check up with the other tech in town and I gather they were comparing notes on both amps. Mine has 6550's and was dated using the dates of the pots. We should do an Edmonton vintage SVT get together sometime.

Not to hijack your thread, but here's a pic of mine

You would be right about that, but the good thing is that new VR's still sound pretty deadly close to it so it's all good.

You don't need a second top. A second head would enable you to use an additional two 8x10 cabs.

Right now a vintage Traynor Big B 810 cabinet. I'm hoping I may be able to grab The Dialog's flatback that he has for sale in the classifieds.

Have you plugged a flatback 810 in with one yet?

You're more than welcome to stop by today and plug mine in at the store if you're curious.
