Every rig I have see has had like a 600w head an an 1000w cab. Why wouldn't you just have a 600w cab? And if it may blow, then why not a 700w opposed to 1000w?

Typically it is easier to make one line of cabinet which will handle a range of heads, then one mated for a specific, and have 4 or 5. My thoughts at least.

The cabs watt rating is pretty well meaningless but what they do is add up the thermal limits of all the voice coils. For example: four 250 watt 10" speakers = a 1000 watt 410.
