Noob Amp Questions

So about a year ago I got a new GK MB155 combo and I love it. The thing is, nobody has really told me how to use it. I already know how the EQ boosts and cuts the frequencies, bit I have no idea how I should use the gain knobs. When should I use pre gain, and when should I use post gain? Also, there's a contour button to scoop the mids, but when should I use that?

Use the pregain so get the amount of saturation or warmth from the preamp and eq and the post to control your overall volume level.

I see you got it new. Can you still find the manual? What you want to know is probably there. I don't see an MB-155 listed on the GK site or the Support Tab where a manual would be listed for download;
http://www.gallien-krueger.com/products_manuals.html

FWIW, I generally set the (pre) Gain at about 1/3 & the (post) Gain at about 1/2. I adjust to make the (Post) Gain or Master do the work. I like Mid's & rarely use a Contour adjustment or scoop the EQ. YRMV. Hope that helps. 8-)

Whoops, it's actually a 115. (Stupid typo.) But thanks, I'll check out the manual, it didn't come with one.
