NOOB Question about Tone Hammer/DI

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Tb'ers

Total noob question on these DI boxes and the like.

I've not used one of these yet but have seen them talked about quite frequently here on TB.

Do these little boxes act as a portable micro amp of sorts? or is this an additional effects/stomp box, how would one use one of these? studio? live? or both. here is the link below to the box in question. Thanks

They're not powered.

Essentially they're an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp in a box with a D.I. Can be used live and in studio.

You can't run a cab without a power amp, other than that it does what a bass head does. I use my tonehammer at rehearsals, live and for recording, and if you dig the AGS it's also a stompbox distortion.
