OK, I lied...but I hope I got your attention! I have done considerable research on the TB forum on amps, setup, pedals, etc. I have probably gotten OCD on it at times. Here's the scoop:
Fender Squier, stock, no problems. We are a cover band. Yes, your typical 3 chord songs, with some other excitement thrown in. My style, well, I haven't played in a looong time, but now I need new amp/bass. Current amp is a practice amp. Not tellin'.
I love low, clear bass that can really be felt, I like the sound that Maroon5, Smiths, pretty much all the Ampeg guys put out. (why not just buy an Ampeg??)
Don't have many options in the area, so it might have to be MF or GC online. Want an amp/cab - I think.
Ideas: Carvin BX500 either alone or as the BR515 combo.
GK amp MB200 or MB500
Ampeg "more powerful" combos - 300/600 watt
Cabs: I have read A LOT about the TB153 from Avatar.
What about a 15 - with a horn, such as Carvin or GK or any others.
4x10 Neo from various sources.
Unfortunately, I can't find many of the brands that the "city guys" can get their hands on - Eden, Markbass, Tech21, Aguilar etc. I will probably have to do some mail order. Plus I have a few budget constraints that I am working with.
Basically, I like it low, felt, and powerful. I won't be slapping the bass for quite some time, until I get my skeeeelz up. Plus I only gig about 1.5x per month for now.
What do you think?
Cheers! |
