I wonder where they found the tame gorillas to lift those Sunn cabs with the JBLs. Yikes. |

I'd be horribly afraid of knocking that particular tower over, but I suppose the stage wasn't too busy either.

Also, makes you wonder. If Hendrix were playing today, what would he be using????

4 Fender somethings (bassman's, showmans ... ??) driving the cab stack next to the heads. But there are also two other Fender guitar amps (top one looks to be maybe a Dual Showman Reverb head). What cabs are those. They don't look like anything I've ever seen.
Cool pic

My guess is the heads in addition to the Showmans are a Showman reverb (as mentioned) and a twin reverb. All the same amp with slight variations.
Six Bottoms, six amps, around +- 520 watts, not too shabby, though cumbersome.

It wasn't really until the 70's that you really saw bassists with more than they walked on stage with. Think about it...how many electrics many players had on hand. It didn't matter, from Jazz to Rock, and they were darn glad to have a decent bass!

I'm guessing the monitors were vocal solo.

| | | | yep, one bass and no tuner!
i know, stage tuners were but a pipe dream, but supposedly neil young in his early days would set 5 conn strobe tuners on stage behind him, each set to one string on his guitar (one for the two Es, natch), so he could look back and quickly tune.
how many hendrix shows would have sounded far better had somebody hipped him to that trick?
