LOL, there are those coiled cords again.

I wonder where they found the tame gorillas to lift those Sunn cabs with the JBLs. Yikes.

They are all slaved into one head and powering the cab stack right next to them. If you only had foot long segments of patch cable to connect the heads, that set up would work.

I'd be horribly afraid of knocking that particular tower over, but I suppose the stage wasn't too busy either.

Makes sense to have all your controls close together.

Also, makes you wonder. If Hendrix were playing today, what would he be using????

So, what is (Billy Cox ?) using there. It would look to be:
4 Fender somethings (bassman's, showmans ... ??) driving the cab stack next to the heads. But there are also two other Fender guitar amps (top one looks to be maybe a Dual Showman Reverb head). What cabs are those. They don't look like anything I've ever seen.

Cool pic

I wonder how well they could hear what was coming out of the stage monitors?

Cabs are Guilds, I believe. I used a 2x15 for a time. The Sunn bottoms eat them for breakfast, IMHO.

My guess is the heads in addition to the Showmans are a Showman reverb (as mentioned) and a twin reverb. All the same amp with slight variations.

Six Bottoms, six amps, around +- 520 watts, not too shabby, though cumbersome.

good call - you gotta be right about them being Guilds. I love that ad - look at that ThunderStar Bass in the back!

Like this rig times 3;

Talk about flapping your pants legs; maybe that explains Noel's groovy boots...

Noticeable absence of logos on all the cabs, but the heads all have theirs. Wonder why that is. Also, check out Billy's bass case right next to the amps. Did he only bring one bass to those gigs?

It was a Hendrix concert, no one would've cared if the bass crapped out!

A lot of bassist back in the day (60's) only carried one bass, and played it the whole night. It wasn't really until the 70's that you really saw bassists with more than they walked on stage with. Think about it...how many electrics many players had on hand. It didn't matter, from Jazz to Rock, and they were darn glad to have a decent bass!

Mitch/Buddy must have said "WHAT!?" a lot.

I'm guessing the monitors were vocal solo.

Ya, I guess you have to take it in context of the times.

yep, one bass and no tuner!

i know, stage tuners were but a pipe dream, but supposedly neil young in his early days would set 5 conn strobe tuners on stage behind him, each set to one string on his guitar (one for the two Es, natch), so he could look back and quickly tune.

how many hendrix shows would have sounded far better had somebody hipped him to that trick?
