New Rig Day! Finally got to plug in my new stuff today at band practice. I have owned the bottom cab for awhile, the new cab arrived last week and I picked up the amp yesterday. Pictures are with my iPhone in OK lighting. Just noticed the angle of the pictures make the bottom cab look shorter but they're actually the same size.
This is super loud! I love the EarCandy BassBombs I picked up the bottom one off of craigslist and Tim at EarCandy made me the top one to be identical to it, except the top one doesn't have a telescoping handle and wheels like the bottom so I could vertical stack it. Tim was awesome to work with. Being 6'5" I like having some speakers close to ear level!
This is the first all tube SVT I've owned. Love it! Glad I recently got custom molded ear plugs because this rig can blast. |

Very cool...

Although I don't really plan on selling the head for a very long time so I might toy with the idea |

Although I don't really plan on selling the head for a very long time so I might toy with the idea | Re-tolex'ing the SVT is pretty easy, I guess. A couple of odd angles, but if you take the whole amp apart and just start with the wooden shell, it should go together quick.
The challenge is the grill cloth and piping on that front screen. You will want that perfect or the whole aesthetic will be pointless.
(but if your soon-to-be brother-in-law is willing to do it, I'd let him try.) |

Although I don't really plan on selling the head for a very long time so I might toy with the idea | I would need first hand proof of his work's quality if I were you. Not just pictures but the real amps/cabs would need to be in front of me so I can see that the work is legit. Also, I think matching rigs are silly. |

From the time I made the actual payment, it took just under 3 months for the cab to arrive. Very satisfied with the time it took!
And s_mcsleazy, two 215s would be fun, but these 12s are LOUD LOUD LOUD. One cab is rated to handle up to 900w. |

I was hoping to build a similar setup to yours, just didn't work out. Glad to hear production times have picked up, I waited a year for that cab. I thought it looked absolutely gorgeous, but was unhappy with the overall experience and flipped it days after I received it. Glad it made it to a good home, wish I could hear the full set up. |

I've become a fan of multi cabs these days, to mix and match depending on the gig!
I'd also be a bit nervous about leaving the SVT on top... I had a soundguy in Baltimore straight-up KNOCK OVER my amp and cab. It was my 2x15, which IS pretty narrow... luckily i had brought a solidstate head that night, my Kustom200, so the kushy tuck n' roll padding helped
But yeah, since then i've been nervous about percarious set-ups... and inept sound-techs...
Still though, congrats on the rig!!

Glad it made it to a good home, wish I could hear the full set up. | I've seen some stories of bad customer service from EarCandy but all the threads were at least a year or two old. I hope that it was part of the learning process of becoming a custom manufacturer on their part. A year is quite a long time to wait for something like this. My experience with Tim was 100% and he's a great guy to chat with. I really love the way these cabs sound.
And Din, if you want to hear how this rig sounds, we have shows 4 of the next 5 Saturdays! |
