OD Pedal in the FX loop

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been experimenting with my new B3K pedal and so far it sounds best when ran through the FX loop of my M6. Having been a guitar player for many many years, the unwritten rule was to never run od pedals in the fx loop.

When the B3K is in front, the top end has a lot more fuzz and a lot more distortion on tap. In the loop, it's much smoother, but I lose some bite. For the tone I'm after, having the B3K in the loop is the best way to go, but it's a little too smooth.

What would be the best way to rough it up a bit without getting too raspy? A clean boost? I've got my tone exactly where I want it, so I 'm interested in a pedal ot technique that is as transparent as possible.

Using an instrument level fx loop, (like the Boss LS-2) in the front of the amp.
