an odd question re: Markbass 102P combo

Sign in to disble this ad
I just acquired a used MB 102P combo- so far it seems to be really terrific. I want to run an external cab, an older/smaller Avatar 1x15 (8ohms). Here's my question: the MB doesn't want to sit very well atop the smaller Avatar. So- would there be a problem using the MB up on its side? Sounds odd, but arranged like that, the stack is very secure. Any thoughts? Many thanks!

not only is there no problem, it will sound BETTER that way. just line up all the speakers evenly in a vertical row and you should be good to go.

The music will come out sideways...

Actually, lining speakers up vertically should sound better for scientific reasons I only kinda' understand. In practice, though, I've seen/heard the difference, and it seems to work.

I like my cabs lined up horizonically, it seems to produce more deep bass if they're in contact with the floor, ground, etal.

"seems" is the operative word. really doesn't though. just seems to because the sound of the mids and highs is blowing past your ears, making the low end seem louder by comparison. crouch down in front of your cabs and you'll see what i mean.
