Thumbs up Just joined!

Hi guys,

I just joined the Aguilar club - picked up a used DB680/DB728 setup from TB'er DJJazzV and this thing KILLS as you all know. I'm playing a 60s Baby Bass through it and it just sounds stunning, couldn't be happier! I haven't gigged with it yet, but can't wait. I'll be using an Epifani 2x12 (the old side by side model), so I'm curious how it will sound.

I also ran my Rick through it and I'm starting to think I need to join a rock band now, too

Thanks again to Don for an excellent first-TB purchase experience, too

I seem to be having a hard time attaching a pic, but I think you guys know what these look like

Say a prayer for my neighbors LOL

Little did I know that I'd stumble across a deal for the DB359, and I might have found a new starter (not just a back-up)!

My problem now is I am very anal about my cabs and heads matching... so I need to renegotiate some gear to free up some cash to snag a couple aggie 12's... GAS IS NEVER ENDING!!!
And the proof is in the PUDDIN'!!!

Do I get a numba now? Or do I need to take the full leap and wait till I get a matching cab? Honestly, the grays are almost spot on, and it doesn't look bad together... PLUS, the tone is KILLER!!! I don't know what everyone in other post are talking about when they call the DB359 "weak". Were they testing it with a single 15", or 12" cab? Cause this thing is made for a fridge!!! Not to mention even pushed to the limit (which I could never do with the SVT Classic because ears would bleed) the amp stays soooooo clean and punchy into SICK volumes!!! I have practice today and this guy will truly be run thru the ringer, but if I am as happy with the full band as I have been jammin' solo... the DB359 has found a new home for good!!!

Hey guys, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to ask this here, since this isn't exactly the "Wanted" section of the classifieds but.. is ANY body just ITCHing to unload a Choco Thunder DB112 and just happens to be residing in the Sunny Southern California region?

PS: The cab will be put to GREAT use at my church since the congregation size has diminished and the 410 cab we currently use is pretty much overkill.

Sweet rig, but it also makes me sad how Aguilar doesn't make an all-tube head.

Not anymore, anyway. See my earlier post for their 200 watt all tube DB359.

Just picked up this mint-condition, used AG500 this week. Drove into NYC yesterday to pick up the head case personally. (Got a quick tour of the Aguilar facility while I was there ... thanks, Marco!)

Using my s210 and s410 both 4 ohms with my 751- total tone heaven. Killer rig. Couldn't be happier!

Just took the AG500SC out of its head case and put it back in the rack bag. The head case is great and looks fantastic, but carrying it on the train together with another case (with cables etcetera) and a double gig bag was a bit too much for my hands and my back. So now it's back on my shoulder and the rig looks like this again:

I'm running the same rig, minus the 751...

Nothing else sounds quite like it!

Does anybody own a DB 924? They seem impossible to find in the used market. Just curious as to how it compares to a Tone Hammer pedal. I basically need a pre amp to make my passive jazz sound more hi-fi at times (e.g. slap tones). The Tone Hammer was great when I tried it a while back, but I like the simplicity of Volume/Bass/Treble for this application.

An economic alternative would be the BMC pedal (Bass Mid Control). I don't know how fatr to "hi fi" you want to go, but this little beast can shape your tone contour quite nicely, both in the scooped and mid-boosted fashion.

I had one of these. I used it for a while and enjoyed it. What I like about the tone hammer pedal is that is very natural sounding and not ultra hifi. If I wanted hifi, I would consider the Sadowsky pedal, which was better to accomplish that tone IME than the DB924. I liked the 924 to really just fatten up my passive basses. Another option you may want to consider is the xotic/EWS trilogic preamp. Very natural sounding, somewhere close to the tone hammer, but slightly different. I use it more on passive basses when I want a little zing, but want it to still sound passive if that makes any sense

first recording with my db751/112's/TLC

Hey guys,

Just recorded a demo (8 tracks) with my new jazz quartet "Nordmann". I used a '72 Fender Jazz and my modded Cort Artisan A4 (US Bartolini's, Aguilar OBP3, fretless).
Bass>tlc>db751>D.I. out>RME Hammerfall.
I've never had a better sound then with this setup. Just great! From slap (bit sloppy... I know) to hard fingerstyle, softer attack, fretless... I love this amp!

Feel free to check it out: Nordmann | Gent, BE | Jazz / Groove / Impro | Music, Lyrics, Songs, and Videos | ReverbNation

Late to the party, but better late than never!

I've been using a GS112 and a Walter Woods as my rig for electric bass and big band gigs on he upright.

Wanting something with a bit more heft, versatiliy, and general tubey goodness, I put this together last week: Aguilar XL50 tube head, GS210 and GS212.

This rig is phenomenal as is, and of course each component can be used alone to cover a wide variety of situations.

Curious about a TH500 vs Genz Benz ShuttleMax

Not much of an opportunity to try each out at same location so I'll probably order it online...

Can anyone give me any insight regarding what the TH500 experience is like?

Man... I recorded my fretless bass through my Aggie mini rig (AG500SC+DB112) today. It was absolutely amazing. Unbelievable. I think this was my best recording session I've ever done.
