No I have not. I am a new bassist (9 months) and am currently using a little Fender Bronco 40 at home for pratice and at church I use a combo they already have for the stage sound. They have a pretty nice FOH system. I have been researching for a few months and am leaning towards a Genz Benz Streamliner 900 and a Barefaced Super 12 T. Since I make no income from my playing, the expense has a low priority. It will happen at some point. The Streamliner first then the Super 12. BTW, 1953 is the year I was born so this old dog is learning a new trick.

Thats awesome- Enjoy your new hobby! Nice to see that you realized that with some patience, paying more for top quality is paying less since you wont end up swapping gear for the next 5 years ... unlike I did

If you went Vintage, then you may put a small "v" after your club number if you want.

You guys make them sound really cool. But for my preferred set up, they'd cost me $1,825. That's a fairly scary entry fee.

I think I'll wait until I can hear a few in person.

What would be your preferred setup? A stack of the EMS ?

I like a 1x12 with a tweeter on top of a 1x15. So a Compact and a Midget T.

OK, I'm in, although numberless [EDIT: oh, I see I'm #6, thanks]. But, I'll fix that little detail before too long.

That is my rig Arthur and it is superb with power to spare and so easy to carry

So true, I went through a few different rig combinations and lost money on them all before I got to where I am now !

If you are working from the sound of speaker sizes, you are getting Barefaced wrong. You might find the 1x12 with tweeter alone moves as much air as the combination you are thinking of. Go look at the sensitivity of the Barefaced Compact: http://barefacedbass.com/product-range/compact.htm

and the SVT 8x10: http://www.ampeg.com/products/classic/svt810e/

I don't own a Barefaced cab, but I'd love to try out a Super 12T -- I think it would float my boat pretty well.

Bit late on this one, but... yep. I gig with a lone Midget, non-tweeter, with an Orange TB500. About 100 shows by now with this rig - clubs, pubs, a marquee or two.

I definitely don't think a Midget will work for everybody, but here's my experience.

The regular soul/country/psychedelic band reserves the PA for acoustic, vocals, and horns. 40W guitar amp, 100W keys combo, drums and bass are all backline only. Midget's coped fine, every single time, so far.

Did a rock'n'roll dep a few weeks ago. PA for vocals only, LOUD guitar, loud keys, drummer going for it. Again, the Midget was totally fine.

A friend borrowed the Orange/Midget for a blues gig, so I went along. Here the guitarist had a silverface Fender Super Six. Badass amp. Volume was okay standing near the front, but up against the back wall in the bright, bouncy room it was like undergoing some form of sonic interrogation technique. And the Midget was STILL fine.

Before ordering, I was all set on a Compact. I sent Alex soundclips, videos, a rig list, a letter. He said it sounded like a Midget would be ideal for me; I didn't really believe him but ordered one because with the great one-month return policy I could always change it for a Compact. (If I'd gone for a Compact first it would have done the job for sure, but I would simply have kept it, never knowing if a Midget would have worked.)

But Alex was right. As I've told him already, it's the best piece of bass equipment I've ever bought.
