If a speaker is rated like mine at 98 db at one watt then it works like this.....
Every time you double the wattage you get 3 more db..... At this spot 70 watts really isn't too much more louder than 55 watts. At 55 it probably produces around 114-115db at 70 watts its around 116.5 maybe so that's only 1.5 db more.
Watts=db
1=98
2=101
4=104
8=107
16=110
32=113
64=116
128=119. once past this point it gets stupid to output so much wattage to just get 3 more db
256=122
512=125
1024=128
2048=131
Edit: 120db is modern concert levels like insanely loud.....beyond that its ridiculous.
But 98db at one watt is pretty sweet

The frequency response graph shows at 20Hz 70db ( thats pretty dang good) and continues to rise until 150Hz at 97db!!!!!!!! then stays pretty flat till 1000Hz then goes up in db again!!!!!! to 2300hz at 105db. then starts slopping down again to 3500Hz at 91db then at 4000hz it really drops off like falling off a cliff
The clip I did had zero EQing after the recording it is a dry sample. These deltas are off the chain loud loud loud and low clean and punchy
Can you tell I love these dumb speakers
Edit: here's the PDF: http://www.parts-express.com/pdf/290-412s.pdf
Check it against other speaker spec graphs even the legends from eminence don't start at 70 db at 20hz
The legend bp102 starts at 65 db at 20hz and an average of 92db
These are monsters
Very efficient.

Next monday should be ok, hopefully.
As for cab, speaker and mic coloration, there will be some. I'll use a SVT 15E cab loaded with a Weber 4ohms ceramic bass speaker (see the portaflex thread for comparisons of that speaker vs a CTS and a JBL in a B15N). I'm planning on using a PR40 +/- a SM57, and if I have the time, make some clean vs. dirty tracks of both channels with a PB and a JB.
That's a little ambitious, but if it comes out OK, it'll be fun to listen and hopefully comment.
Hey fuzzy, is mini fuzz doing allright?

I didn't record overdriven clips from channel 1 because I think it sounds bad, but I can do it if someone wants to hear it. Details about settings is in the comments for each track.
I mixed tracks from the PR40 and the SM57, but I can provide separate tracks if someone's interested. https://soundcloud.com/nouroog/sets/bassman-50
Any comment appreciated
