U guys are right that the 100T pumps out a good bit of volume-more than most other 100w & more than other Bassmans I've come across.
I felt the Super was a little "chunkier" - either the extra power & all things associated with it-6550's, bigger trannies etc- do this, or I just thought it, as I'm playing the big Daddy.
Sounded great, both of them.
I "think" I still favoured my Fender Studio Bass 200 tho, something about it screams raw fury a tad more
One thing I DIDN'T get/think to try on the new Bassmans was getting some POWER tube breakup.
Might have to go to the store again & annoy the staff ;D
That's one thing I REALLY dig of the Studio Bass, the great way the POWER TUBES break up.
It's a really gutterall snarl.
Damn, I've got my YBA300 & the Studio Bass 200, so I shouldn't even be looking with my OGD

Fender Bassman 60 from the late 90's or eary 00's
It's a great sounding little kick amp that actually sounds like a "real" bass rig. It sounds amazing through that 4x10 cab BTW.

Not surprised at all that you leaned towards the 300, so do I, but it does take a while to fully explore all the possibilities of the preamp. If you miss the "raw fury" of your 200 play around with the parametric eq on the mids on the overdrive channel next time, you don't have to dial in overdrive and it really can give the midrange bite of the old Ampegs if you like that.
One other thing, and it won't surprise you at all - the SB300 really does sit sweet on the Bergantino NV cabs. I use mine all the time with the NV215 and it is quite a different beast in that combo, it would be interesting to take in your NV412 and try the SB300 with that. Might be a more valid comparison with your studio bass too since I imagine that is what you use it with. The Fender cabs are great and light, but I am still a Bergantino guy at heart . |

I'm going back there today & will give those semi-para mids a tweak.
Cheers

Have you checked any pawn shops or antique places. Pawn shops are obvious but I say antiques because they are really like mega # boothed flea markets. That's where I found my Sennheiser 421. For 10 bucks. They obviously didn't know what they had.

But I had fun making them and it made me like the tone of the amp even more.
These amps are really great for bass, but it took me some time to tame mine and find my tones. Now I use it a lot for rehearsals and recordings.
Please tell us your impressions with the '65!
