Here is my Markbass CMD121p/ NY121 stack from my gig last night. This little rig has tone for days!

A question for Big Bang users. When you use the headphones, does the blue LED light blink?
Mine does so I'm wondering if this is normal or not. I have emailed Markbass today but haven't got a reply yet.

What do you guys think about using the New York 604 as a standalone cab (no PA support) for rock gigs?

I ran a single 604 at a rock gig. It was a little under the mix. I added a second one and it kills. If your band is loud it may not cut it.

If I was only using a single cab, and the band was loud, I would get a cab that was rated at 4ohms.

ok, so i did some trolling over at the TH500 thread and now time to do some here. i have a few questions. one of the reasons the TH500 is appealing to me is because people are saying that it does the low mid, finger funk thing really well.

can markbass do this as well?

im currently using a walter woods head, are markbass heads different enough to justify one?

im considering the LMII or III or the lower powered MoMarks because of the "analog" power section. (im one of the lunatics who thinks you can hear the difference) and i dont currently own a non-class D amp, so i thought that might be a nice change from the WW amp. is the power section of the MoMark and the LM III similar? given the right components, will they sound similar?

I've done so for a small gig with no PA support and it was fine but it was a small gig. It would depend on the room and how loud the band was.

I just played my Ibanez SR300 with my Big Bang it sounded great. It didn't sound too great through the GK 400rb, too boomy. The SR300 with the stock pups loves the Markbass.

Those 804 and 604 cabs really intrigue me. I would really love to test one out before buying, im just afraid it wont be able to push enough air to compete with a moderately loud drummer.

The 604 and 804's are going to be tough to find at a GC. You would probably have to order one and return it. I love my 2x604 rig but one might be too light for a moderate - loud rock band. I do use one at rehearsal and cuts through fine.

A Fender Jazz with my 4001 Rick as a backup, sometimes I bring my Hoff but that's only sometimes. A MoMark 800 with the Standard 104HF Cab and that is all this cat needs.

Looking to trade for a Little Mark Tube 800 but question - Is it Ok to run the amp while still in its gig bag like I used to do with my LM2 and F1?
Just asking as I know the Little Mark Tube 800 obviously has a tube and would the heat from it cause an issue?

I have the tube 800. Yes the bag (as long as its the bag made for this amp) has openings where the vents are. Email markbass customer service, they're very responsive and helpful.

I've never played a Walter Woods, so I can't answer that. I've had a TH500 and a Big Bang and played with the LMIII a bit. The TH500 does have that midrange thing going on, but it's just a completely different animal. It's a very specific sound IMO, and you have to be all in for that organic, tube-compressed chewiness. MarkBass is way more versatile and can dial in a much bigger range of tones that are solid and clear throughout. Now, some people don't need that versatility and can really use that Aguilar character to its fullest, but while you can get midrange presence you're not going to get that flavor with any tweaking of the MarkBass knobs.
