@basstardus: when you use an 12at7 you will have less overall volume since it is a lower gain tube than the 12ax7 it comes with.
It gets more versatile and usable but you sacrifice some volume...
I do not want to convince you otherwise, but be aware of it.

My prefered combination is 5771 in stage 1, 12ax7 in stage 2. 12at7 is 60% gain, 5771 is 80%, 12ax7 is 100%.

My new tubes turned up today.
JJ ecc83s premium tested from Hotrox in Nottingham, the original tubes which are brand new anyway are also JJ ecc83s but are not tested and burned in, presumably bought in a large batch and then fitted by Orange.
The difference between the tubes is quite noticeable, the new ones are a little smoother and with the gain raised to 3 o clock onwards the natural valve overdrive is much more musical.
These valves were only£9.50 each plus postage would totally recommend.

I'm in, and I want a number, too. I just got my Terror 500 yesterday and am totally knocked out. I plugged it into my LDS 15/6, set the gain and volume to noon and...

...just about blew my wall down. I did rattle a couple of martini glasses out of my rack in the kitchen. Small price to pay.

Wow--this little thing is amazing!

It is a serious amp. And it (at least for now) is the tone in my head. Smooth like butter with my p, but can get nice and cranky with my j.

I did a lot of research before I pulled the trigger. And I'm convinced I made the right decision.

The Terror coupled with that LDS...

Wow.

With the gain and volume set that high I'm shocked that your ears didn't start bleeding as well!

I've been settting my Orange TB500 with the master vol at 9 O'clock, Input gain at 11 o'clock for full dance band gigs through a Bergantino 4 Ohm AE410 cab. Punches like a prize fighter! Incredible volume and punch, growl and more.

Between 11 and 1 o clock for the gain gives a really nice growl, I bet the AE410 sounds amazing at 11 o clock.
How do you set your eq when paired with that cab and the Nordy?

The EQ on my Orange TB500 is almost dead flat (noon). Sounds great that way. I bump the low eq to maybe 1 o'clock since my Bergantino AE410 is rather tight and focused. That's about it. I love how 'plug and play' the Orange TB500h amp is. Just sounds good! Dial in the volume, a touch of eq slightly beyond 12 o'clock if needed.
