ohmage help please

will an amp with a 4 ohm output power an 8 ohm cab without damaging either unit?
I know I wont get the full power of the amp, but I wont hurt it will it?

If the amp is designed to run at 4 OR 8 ohms you will be fine. If it only does 4ohm than I wouldn't connect it ( I've never owned an amp that didn't do both 8 and 4 ).

it has a 4 or 2ohm option. its the VBA 400..

For tubes, I wouldn't do it, a bad impedance match can be bad for your transformer and power tubes.
