Ohms tc electronic combo serie BG

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello my name is Jorge and I'm from Spain. I have doubts about the ohms tc electronic combos BG. With 500 W, but as many ohms? If the head works at 4 ohms and 8 the cab the 500W not get it. I have not found anywhere in ohms. Anyone know how many ohms works the head and the cabs 1x15 and 2x10.

Thanks and sorry for my english.

Welcome to Talkbass. You can see the manual here:

TC Electronic BG500 Manuals

If I read it correctly, the BG500 combos do not allow for connection of an extension speaker. Remember, everything else held equal, the 500 watt amp is only twice as loud as the 50 watt amp.

Do you own one? Are you experiencing a problem? Can you describe the problem? Tell us what bass you are using, and tell us if you are using any external effects pedals.

The problem with the manual is that it never states at what impedance it puts out 500 watts. It also never states what impedance the drivers are.

Thanks for answering. Well there is no problem, but I have thought of buying the 1x15 and I will not make a bad buy. I want to resolve all doubts before. The manual does not ohms

Can you go to a store and test one out? If it sounds good and is loud enough for your needs then it really doesn't matter what the numbers say.

If you look at the picture of the back of the amp, there is no external speaker power jack. This suggests, and I am pretty sure I remember from the discussions on the TC threads when this line of combo's was introduced, that the cabinets are 4ohms and that there is no option for an external speaker. So, these are designed as powerful (and a bit heavy) stand-alone combo's.

My guess is they don't really talk about the impedance in the manual since it is a bit of a moot point since there is no way to connect an external cab.

I believe my buddy Tom Bowlus from Bass Gear Magazine has reviewed these combo's, and maybe can verify the info if he sees this.

And... welcome to Talkbass!

Thank you very much everybody. It is difficult to find a shop that have this combo in stock here. I had doubts because I was amazed at his price. I also think that kjung, but wanted to know opinions.

I have not pulled it apart to measure the driver impedance, but yes, the "enclosures" on the BX500 combos are supposedly 4-ohms, so that you do get full power out of the "head."

ok, answered my questions. There is much difference between a 1x15 and a 2x10? Do you prefer?

Thanks again
