Ok amp question.

So this fall I am setting out to buy a new amp. I need to upgrade from my combo badly! I am in the process of building two TL606 based cabinets and I hope those will be good for me. I play mainly with my church right now, but plan to start a rock/alternative band next year. So I need to be able to have access to a wide gain range from clear and thick, to chunky break-up. I was looking at the orange Terror Bass Head. Its reasonably priced and I like the demos of it because of its wide range of gain. But are there other options besides an all tube amp? I cant get a tube amp for weight reasons, and Ill be in a dorm next year on the eleventh floor! I would like a fairly light amp. And also I would like to keep it under 1000 dollars if possible.

Thanks everybody!!!

The terror is not a tube amp, and yes, there are MANY alternatives. Read through the amps forums for hundreds of ideas.
