Hey all, I love the bass tone in that song! Anyone know the history? Bass guitar, amp, studio musician? The song has gotta be 25 30 yrs old but what a great groove!

No flaming here. I wore out the first LTD cassette I ever had on a cross country trip in the early 80's.

This might be your guy:

Let me know how that works out. I would love to know that this whole thing came full circle in 30 years.

Thanks for reminding me of this song. I listened to it on ebay and looked at the other vids on the side and it was off to the funk races. Fatback Band (Do the Bus Stop) led to Brick (Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody) led to Con Funk Shun( Confunkshunizeya) and so on. Fun!

Will do 5string! Funny, the guy has only 55 friends on facebook! I think he's new to it. Guess he plays in a few gospel things and such these days. Thanks to Mr. Nervous for the facebook link!

One great bass lick after another, and has that quality of sounding funky enough without getting in the way of the other instruments. Also, it's from that era of " bass in your face " recordings. But, I would bet that he was going through the board for that recording and not an amp. However, I have been wrong about this stuff before !
