But it's a serious question. Just a quick one. I've never played a Mesa 400+, but I've heard nothing but good things about it, and I've heard a lot of killer tones out of it. I play in an extremely loud 3 piece band, and I wanted to buy a Mesa 400+ and hook it up to a 900 watt LDS cabinet with 2 15" inch speakers and two 6.5" speakers for the mids. Will this setup kill animals? How about make peoples ears bleed? My guitarist plays a Mesa Triple Rectifier thru a rectifier 4x12, and my drummer is unbelievably loud. Will this keep up with them? I have to crank the boost and both of the volumes on my friends (I don't have an amp right now) 800rb when I play through my Mesa 1x15 cab in order to even be heard the slightest bit. They've been courteous in turning down for me lately, but I just need something that'll do the trick well. Thanks guys.

it should. 300w of svt power through the this cab duke lejuene is coming out with that has two 3012lf's and a mid horn will rip your face off pretty good. i see no reason an even bigger cab with a 400+ wouldn't do the same.

Awesome :]

I'm pretty sure I can score both plus a new tube set for the 400+ for under $2000, too, so that's not bad at all.

That kind of volume will definitely render you all deaf as a post in a few years. Get ear plugs, turn down, or find new guys to play music with. If your ears are ringing after playing, damage has been done. You may not notice it for a few years, but by the time you are 40 or 50 you will.

Anxiously awaiting Duke's latest. I think he's brilliant. And perhaps a bit underappreciated. So far.

Yea, we've all been wearing earplugs lately because of not wanting to be deaf later in life. Thanks for the advice, though!

Cats are expendable and you can get them free all day long. The dog you want to keep, they're useful.
Yes the Mesa will kill animals.

well he hasn't really done anything yet, lee. got to do something to be appreciated

but it's coming very soon! i'm pretty stoked, bro. i had a prototype for a month, and all i can say is that any claims duke makes about them are true as far as i'm concerned. in the interest of disclosure, i have no scientific proof, i haven't heard the final version yet, and i'm getting a bit of a deal on them (i guess that would be tantamount to an endorsement, so take it with a grain of salt if you must), but duke apparently has got it all worked out, because they perform exactly as he says they do. can't wait to hear 2 of them + my svt!

btw, i got my cat for free, but she's a sweetheart

I think I'll only play it at the practice space and at shows in that case x] I'll just buy a little practice amp or something. I had one of those acoustic B-20's last year and I liked it, so there's a thought.

That's kind of funny, because I got all of my animals for free as well x]

Whenever random relatives of mine don't want their pets anymore they just pretend to drop them off at my place for the day and never pick them up hahaha. All of them are real good though. I bet if I didn't have to spend money on them for food and such I could have more money to buy gear, but I couldn't be bothered to do that.

Foz raves about how loud that cab is with his 800RB with 300+100 loud solid state watts.... I'm sure 200ish Toob watts would be similarly deadly.

This is starting to sound a little scary considering that the 400+ is around 300 watts if i'm not mistaken :0

Lightbulb Well!

1 have measured 358 watts RMS clean enough for Transilvanian Reggae! out of our old Cradle endorsement head they took back when we went back to Ampeg with Dave Pybus on Bass.
The old 400+was a stock one with fixed, fixed bias, but elite productions back-line hire have one we rented with the bias mod and Mullard 6ca7's in it that seemed quite a bit more powerful but I didn't have time to put it on the scope or measure how it was biased.
We had a V8 Trace before that, but sweet furry animals aside, that could fell a Rhinoceros at twenty paces.
