OK to rewire a speakon as 1/4"?

I need to connect an amp with NL-4 connectors to a cab with 1/4". Not going to gig with this setup, just for A/B testing and practicing by myself.

I have a couple of extra speaker cables with NL-4 connectors at both ends. I'm thinking about replacing one speakon connector with a 1/4", unless there's some reason why it's not advisable to do so.

Should I expect any problems? Is the rewiring a simple matter?

TIA

No problem at all, just make sure you wire them correctly.

+1 goes to tip, -1 goes to sleeve

I have a couple of 1/4"-to-speakon adaptors, with the 1/4" being female. I also have a couple of speakon-to-1/4" male cables. Very common.

Dpends on the amp.........

Some of the micro amps have bridged modules inside producing the output power. In those cases, what would be considered the Neg (sleeve, barrel) is actually hot, and contact with the amp could cause a short and fry the amp.

+1

Most if not all of the newest crop of micro amps are that way. Adding a Speakon jack to the cab is worth considering.
