Is an old GK400RB enough for an Avatar 4x10 neo????

The head puts out 200 watts at 4 ohm. I have this for backline for festivals and want a cabinet to go with it.

Is that enough power for a 4 ohm Avatar 4x10?

Maybe if your playing with only one guitarist. If you have 2 you might need more.

I have a GK 400 and Avatar Neo 410/4ohm. Get a good sound and decent volume. IMHO/IME it is a good setup in small to medium venues if band is not too loud. GREAT with acoustic band. I use Mark Bass II for larger gigs. I have thought many times of seliing GK400 but I like it too much. Use if for practice and back up.

A 400RB cranked sounds really, really good. And pretty darned loud, with a 4x10. I say go for it. If it doesn't do it for you, flip it.

Festivals makes me think outdoors and possibly a big stage. Is that correct? If so it may be a little underpowered. I have an 400RB-IV that I'm letting a friend use through an Avatar 4ohm 4X10. It sound great and is pretty loud. However that is indoors in a club setting. I guess it also depends on the monitor system and if it's capable of supporting bass for the rest of the band. Also realize my 400RB-IV puts out 280W at 4ohms so it has a little more power than the original 400RB.

"enough for a cab" doesn't make sense. that cab would work just fine with a 20-watt practice amp.

the question is whether a head is too much for the cab, and if not, whether that head-cab combo is enough for the gig.

That cab could take more power but 200W into four quality tens should suffice for most situations. You are going to need PA support for outdoor gigs, though.

Well, the reason I asked it this way is that I've been emailing back and forth with Jorg Schroeder about one of his cabinets. He feels the GK400RB does not have enough power for his 1515L and could damage the speakers if the amp was cranked and starts clipping.

And we do always have PA support at these festivals.
