Old School Trace Elliot Bass Rig

Sign in to disble this ad
Matt Otto hand delivered my bass this summer and ever since I've been thinking, researching and building the ideal rig I've wanted since I was a teenager growing up around Staten Island in 90's.

All pieces were bought through Talkbass listings.

Everyone I dealt with was extrememly friendly, very helpful and thoroughly honest.

So --
thanks again for the great deal on the Series 6 head Shawn!
thanks again for shipping one mother f'er of a cab Marshall!
thanks again for the dual-band compressor pedal, Eddie!
and a huge thanks to Steve for the immaculate 4052h brite box!

Sounds even better than it looks

Very nice, I bet that'll kick some serious butt. What's the story on the bass? I've never seen one like that before, pretty cool.

Nice setup!

I have a road-worn pair of Trace cabs circa 1990, a 1518 and a 1028 that I like a lot. I got them from the original owner not too long ago. I use it with my older SWR head (early Bass 350). Right now I'm mainly using it with a borrowed Carvin LB70P (MM style pickups plus a piezo), which allows for some very Levin-ish capabilities which I am digging a lot.

I'd like to get a Trace head too at some point.

Very sweet rig indeed! Hartke had a cab like the Britebox
back in the day. I can vividly remember the ad with Stu Hamm
and the HA7000 head, 2x15, 4x10 and 4x5 cabs.

The bass was handmade by a brother of mine. It was based on an Alembic I fell in love with several years ago, but never had a chance to make the seller an offer.

Here's the specs:

Body
Model and size: Lexicon electric bass
Depth: 1.5-inch
Top: Camphor Burl/hard rock maple (with multiple racing stripes)
Back: Mahogany

Neck
Material: Hard rock maple
Fingerboard: Indian rosewood
Width at nut: 1 21/32 inch
Width at 12th fret: 2 1/4 inch
Scale: 34 inch
Nut material: bone
Fingerboard markers: just side markers
Recommended strings: .045-100
Lacquer Finish
Color: Natural

Hardware
Machines: Black Schaller
Bridge: Black Schaller
Electronics: Norstrand humbucker with 3 band preamp active/passive circuitry.

hahaha, I have it rolled up right here next to me. The adhesive was wearing, and it was peeling off. It might go back on one day.

Well, now you have achieved "Epic Status" in the Trace circle. Glad you finally finished piecing together your rig. Next up, V-8 for "Ultimate Trace Status"?

~S~

PS: Your brother is a very skilled man, beautiful bass!

Very cool and unique shape, sort of reminds me of a Rick guitar mixed in with a Status shape. I dig it. That rig looks crazy good with it.

4052H....Nice! I remember when we first took delivery of these for distribution. Sweet high end, without the harshness of most horn tweeters.

Congrats!
