| | | | One cab/amp alternative for Berg ip112 stack I'm playing with the Berg ip112/ex112 stack and a Glock BAC preamp for a while now and am very happy with the sound.
BUT it's still quite heavy for me (I'm doubling also) and I'm looking for a lightweight one cab/amp solution.
I've never run out of power with this stack, so my guess is that a cab/amp with about 2/3 of the Berg's output would be fine.
Do you think a Thunderchild 112 with a Glock Blue Soul would be a good alternative?
Thanks for your input. |

If you are playing tight stages you might also want to check out the fEARless 112. It has a kick back feature that would help you hear yourself at lower volumes, and not over power the rest of the stage.
Regardless of the cab you decide on there are a slew of micros out there that would work and cover a lot of tones. I personally would check out the Genz shuttle 9.2.

Thanks for your input. | I saw your thread title, and immediately thought of the Blue Soul and the Thunderchild cabs (I was thinking of the TC212, which would put out everything the IP stack does IMO). If you get one of Arnopol's composite builds, that TC212 won't weigh much more than a single IP112.
However, if 2/3rds the volume is cool, the TC112 would be great. |

| | | | I'm living in Europe so I don't have a chance to try almost all the new super 12"s, already did try the blue soul and really liked it.
Only now the thunderchild of Kjung's youtube clips but really liked it seemed to be a great lightweight cab with a Berg kind of sound, hopefully they will ship to Europe... |

I do think Duke will ship a TC112 to the EU though... just depends if it is worth the cost. |

| | | | Yeah it will depend on shipping, but BF just increased there prices, the big baby (3012lf and midrange) will be probably be the same price as the tc112 with shipping!
I like the 4 ohm and horn/crossover idea of the tc112 , better contact Duke. |

Edit: One other suggestions. I LOVE my Blue Soul. It is a HAMMER at 4ohms, and puts out massive low end and punch. IMO, it is a bit much for the TC112 at 4ohms, and the very smooth upper mid response of the Blue Soul combined with, well the very smooth mid response of the TC112 is a bit too much of a good thing for me.
Since you are in the EU, the TecAmp Puma500 is very small, very high quality, and very nicely matched both tonally and power-wise to the TC112 IMO. Really nice rig. It won't keep up with the full IP112ER stack (if you have the original IPHT112 stack, it will IMO). The EQ is simple on the Puma, but the low mid and upper mid controls really work well with the TC112, and you aren't paying for power and weight that you can't really use. Just an idea!

| | | | Great info! maybe I'll first buy the cab and then look for the amp which fits the best.
At the moment I've also got a Tonehammer 500 but I can't get friendly with it (at least with my soapbar basses, my jazzbass sounds fine) maybe I'll wait selling it and see how it sounds with the tc112.. |

I actually dig my TH500 with the TC112/115, but it is very different than the Glock tone or the Puma tone... rougher, fatter, more midrange distortion, less open top end. That can sound very good (love it with my P Bass), but can be a bit 'cloudy' sounding (versus clear ) for some with other instruments looking for a clean, transparent tone. |

| | | Thanks Kjung!, there is store nearby which carries glock, tecamp, genzbenz, mark bass, aguilar etc. Should find the perfect match there | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
