One Cabinet to do it all???

I play in two bands: One is an R&B/soul/jazz fusion band. In this one I like a modern sound - I play a Kinal 5 or Elrick 6 through a Walter Woods Ultra into 1 or 2 EA NL210 cabs or a Berg AE410.

The other is a 60's Brit blues/rock band where I like a vintage sound. I play a Sadowsky Vintage 5 through a Markbass or Ampeg SVT amp into the Berg 410 or NV610.

Most of my gigs are small to medium clubs, some outdoor jobs with PA support so I don't need to be crazy loud.

My Question: Is there one cabinet that could replace all my current gear? fEarful 15/6 or 12/12/6? Other suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your input!

The fEARful's would be a good place to start, and I would check out greenboy's fEARless line as well. If you are looking to build yourself the fEARful plans are free, but the fEARless line is through authorized builder only.

Can one rig sound more like the other?

Maybe all you need is a preamp to switch up the rig's voicing.

A fEarful is definitely my choice for one-cab-fits-all. I can't say enough good things about my 15/6. You might want yours with a HF horn and level control in case you decide you need more HF content. My preference is that my "sound" is influenced by (1) my technique, (2) my bass & strings, and (3) my amp, in that order. I don't use outboard effects and I don't want my cab to add or subtract anything. YMMV.

A custom 2x15 with a controllable tweeter. You can get probably as much volume as you would ever need for any non-extreme gigs (ie loud metal bands, arenas, etc...). Get just about any sound you might want. Plenty of lows and highs when you want them (or EQ them out). And you can bring it in around 50-75 pounds probably and small enough to fit in any hatchback with the seats down.

Thanks for the info TB. I've gone with a fEARful 12/6 + 12 sub - very happy so far.

what is it about what you have that you're unsatisfied with?
how would you describe what you get from your Berg 410 vs your NV610?

Excellent!

I have the same 12/6 + 12sub rig and its really good at taking eq, effects... a real chameleon. Should suit your needs very well.

One Cab to rule them all, One Cab to find them, One Cab to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.

On my SVP-CL for a modern sound I turn the input gain down and master up, the opposite for a vintage tone. Works as well as I need it to.
