One Note is Distorted

Sign in to disble this ad
I use an Acoustic B20 amp with an Ibanez SRX300 and an Ibanex SR505. No matter what amp or bass settings i have, any G#, A, or A# note is always heavily distorted. Every single G#, A, and A# note on the fretboard does this, no matter how high. This happens with both of my basses no matter what cable i use. Is there an easy fix or should i take it in to a music shop?

Something in the amp is loose, causing a resonant vibration. Track it down using a signal generator to put a test tone through the amp. 110Hz (A) should do it.

I had that problem with my Ashdown, it turned out to be a screw that held in one of the speakers. It was slightly loose and right up against the frame of the cab. I moved the speaker very slightly and tightened the screw, and voila! Buzz/distorted note gone.
