One pre into another?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Presonus Studio Channel that gets a bit of nice tube grit/breakup, but doesn't quite have the "oomph and thickness" that I like.

I have a Demeter HBP-1 that is thick like molasses in January, but is so sterile it's scary.

I have tried putting my Agro pedal in front of the Demeter to get a bit of grit, but it takes some of the thickness out of the sound...if that makes sense.

Was thinking of going into the Studio Channel, out to the Demeter. Anything glaringly stupid about this? Of course I will "try it and see" but wanted to know if anyone has done something similar before? Thanks.

You can do that, just watch the gain levels when you're stacking one pre on top of another so you don't get the final outgoing signal too hot and "overamp" the poweramp.

If it works, it works. No reason why it's not something to try out though...or glaringly stupid as you put it

Cool. I wanted to bounce it around here first just in case. I don't know if I'll ever get the sound in my head to come out of my bass and rig, but I'll keep trying.
