OK, first off, let me state that I am familiar with MarkBass products. I bought a MarkBass F1 head in March 2008 and have been using it well since then.
Had some time to kill after work Thursday, so I stopped by one of my local GCs. Thought I'd check into an inexpensive 1X15 cab that I could pair with my current rig to get a little more bottom. While I was checking out and completely underwhelmed by the way 5 strings sounded with a couple low $$ 1X15s, there was another guy auditioning USA J basses. He was playing through a MarkBass CMP 102P with a Traveler 102P. His tone was massive! On passive basses!
Long story short.....two days later, I'm at GC loading that set into my car. Before going to GC I put all my current cabs plus two of my three amps and a couple other items on Craigslist. So far I've sold the Crown power amp and both Goliath Jr cabinets and have an appointment tomorrow to meet a guy who wants to buy my MarkBass F1. So, once I sell my 2 Triad cabinets and Alembic F-1X preamp, I'll be all lightweight amplification. The MarkBass Combo, MarkBass extension cabinet, and a GK MB500 mini amp. I'm keeping the GK over the F1 because it's newer and because I really like the footswitch boost control. Also gives me the flexibility of a slightly different tone palette if I need it.
