Opinions on Ashdown and GK cabs?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi folks,

I'm looking for a cab to go with the head I intend to buy (ASHDOWN 550 SPYDER - Thomann UK Cyberstore), I was wondering what everyones opinions on them (opinions from experience rathr than hearsay andrumours would b more useful).

GALLIEN KRUEGER 410MBX - Thomann UK Cyberstore
ASHDOWN MAG 414T DEEP - Thomann UK Cyberstore
ASHDOWN ABM 410H - Thomann UK Cyberstore

It'll be the first reasonably serious amp set-up I'll be using and the first time I'll have bought a cab and head. I play a lot of Muse, Bullet for my Valentine, Fightstar and other things. I'd really like to know how you think it would stand Muse levels of distortion and effects?

I should also mention I want value for money, I have a reasonable budget but I don't won't the total cost (I.e including the cost of the head) to go past £800. Feel free to suggest some alternatives but nothing to pricey or obscure (bare in mind I'm in the UK so some brands are hard to come by).

Cheers guys.

Absolutely love my Mag cabs. Had them for years with no issues. Have not played the others to be fair. Have had plenty of other high end gear( 74 SVT cab, GK 410 SBX+, Eden XLT212, Mesa power house 212...) and these keep up quite well.

I didn't vote since I don't really care for any of those cab options. There are much better choices out there.

I have a Spyder 550 and on occasion I have used it with a 410H. They seem to work very well together for me.

I've been using the Ashdown 410H series cabs for well over a decade in various musical settings and genre's and they always sound good and I have never had a problem.

But this is my exsperience with this model cab.

I have an ashdown mag 115, first I was impressed by the warmth of the sound but now that I have it a year, it's already distorting.

PS: at ashdown they can't even put srews like they should be, I have screws in my amp that aren't straight in the amp but in "diagonal".

sorry for my bad english, I'm from europe.

I have a MAG 410, which is a little different than the 414 - the 410 is 450 watts, 8 ohms. Really warm and defined tone, and quite a lovely mid-range presence.
