What do you guys think of Avatar B212 cabinet with neo speakers? I wish I could try one out? How does this compare to their B410 cabinet?

These things are absolutely fanstatic. Its a very clean sounding cab with a fairly good focus on the midrange. But dont let that fool you cause it can handle 5 strings and drop tunings with ease.

Now while it won't go as 'loud' as the B410, may people seem to think its a better standalone cab, whereas the B410 is better when paired with another cab.

YMMV, but I dont think you can go wrong!

I agree with what hyp.spec says. I have two of them in maroon tolex with wheat grill cloth and white piping, same as the pic on their web site. I stack them. If you're used to the average run-of-the-mill bass cab, your eyes are going to get opened real fast by the B212 because it has the REAL bottom that your previous cabs may have lacked. Be prepared to change your tone setting drastically, to cut back on the bass and punch up the mids (but again, depending on what you're used to). My BDDI settings are WAY different with these cabs than they are with, say, my '70s-vintage 1x15" Peavey cab. If this isn't what you're looking for, decide now, and pass.

I bypassed the crossover+tweeter in both my cabs, FWIW. Difference = zero, since I play dance and C&W. (Frankly, it was just a "Let's see what happens" experiment.) But if you play slap and you like top-end sizzle, the tweeter may be a big asset for you. In any case, it probably won't get in the way of the tone you want, unless you're looking for a very "middy-sounding" cab for that modern, bippity-boppity-boopity sound/style, in which case this is definitely not the cab for you.

This article thoroughly compares the 410 and the 212.

I swear I'm not trying to threadjack! But I figured there'd be Avatar aficionados here for a related question:

Whaddaya think of the single 12 cab, the SB112?

I've got one and use it together with one of their 210s. It sounds pretty good; you need two of them for adequate volume levels in a typical electric ensemble. One would be great for a big band gig or amplifying an acoustic.

Avatar uses the same box for the 112 and for the 210 - by result, the 112 is a little larger and heavier than it needs to be, and definitely more so than the boutique 112s. Then again, it's a LOT cheaper.

Great value, good sound - not super loud on its own.

+1 on that. I have 2 - SB112's and a B212. In my opinion the 2-112's are a little more meatier than the 212. I'm doing a large outdoor gig tomorrow night and plan to use the 2-112's and the 212 with 2 heads. One of the heads will run direct and one of the 112's will be miked. Katie bar the doors!!!
