Have and love the Pre-Wizzy 110. Tell me about the Wizzy 112.

This is my favorite small 12. Very punchy, light at about 30ish lbs, easily does a vintage tone, not very pronounced highs without a tweet, comes in 8 Ohms if you order it (or the usual 4).

I love mine (4 ohm). It's my favorite cab for upright, and depending on the amp I enjoy it on BG too. It's a great way to make the most of a compact head that puts out 200-300 watts at 4 ohms.

Due to the whizzer cone/lack of crossover it has no phase weirdness and good dispersion throughout its range...you can stand right in front of/above it on a cramped stage and still hear mids/highs.

I much prefer it with my grindy solid state GK 400RB than my Eden WT-400, which sounds kinda flabby/unfocused.

I like my Wizzy12M a lot for DB.

With electric, I stack the Wizzy atop my VL208 to bring the sound up to ear level. Paired, they sound great, but if I'm using only one cab, I prefer the sound of the VL208; with 5-string fretless the Wizzy sound comparatively less bassy and more mid-present than the VL208 to my ears.

FWIW, I use them with an iAmp800.

Thanks so much guys. I currently run a (pre-Pro) SVT III Hybrid with my little EA110 8 ohm. Since I'm DI'd most of the time these days I use this set-up as a monitor for the drummer and I. I do play some corporate gigs that can require a little more on occasion though.

My early 90's SVT III puts out 200W at 8 ohms and 350W at 4. My thinking was getting a EA112 Wizzy at 8 ohms, run them parallel to a 4 ohm load. But I always get a bit twisted with impedance/load thing.

Can any of you correct me and or suggest the right match for my simple ampeg/EA110 set up. I'd thinking 8 ohm on the 112 if I choose to use it separately when I don't need the combination.

FWIW I play jazz/rock/R&B. Active 4 and passive 5.

Thanks again fellas for your knowledge.

I have the same set-up and 100% agree. The Wizzy is very colored but it def' cuts through - your notes are heard and I usually voice it for Quack. The VL is uncolored with "unlimited bass" and it really fills the sound. The effect is best when run with separate amps (to balance effi') and optimum (for me anyway) is stereo with the Bridge p-up on the Wizzy and the Neck p-up driving the VL ... but it's a pain to set up, so only the rare big gig get's the full monty.

/// BUT ... the Wizzy is a go-to cab for the one off band practices - so light and easy to haul - I know my notes will be heard (fretless so that ability is great when you're trying to find the right notes in the song). I was gonna sell it - but prob'y won't.

fwiw - I also have the Wizzy-12M ... which is in-between the two, but not a fav' cab at this point.

The sensitivity of the the Wizzy 12M is great. It may not sound massive, but it sounds good and loud with very little power; my '64 Bassman black face sounds glorious through the Wizzy at reasonable volume levels.
