I might have a local trade in the works. My Avatar 212 for this guys Mesa Powerhouse 410. I've never played through a Mesa cab, I'm not sure what to expect.
What do these cabs sound like? I hear they're very middy. |

| | | | I have a PH410 and I prefer its tone to many other 410 cabs. Its a 100 pound monster to lift but it sounds extremely good. Not overly middy at all. Punchy, loud and well balanced. Not overly hyped in any frequency like so many other 410 cabs.

That being said, although I'm a big Mesa fan, there are other 410s I prefer - Ampeg's SVT-410HLF, and Eden's 410XLT come to mind... The main gripe I have with the PH410 is how low to the ground it is - it beams at my knees... There are ways to combat that problem, and it is a quality cab - that's definitely better and worth more than an Avatar 212...

Its a monster, but its a thank. You will never kill this cab. Construction is above anything I have ever seen.
As for the trade : ABSOLUTELY

- georgestrings | Thanks for the opinions guys! I've decided that I'd really like to get the Mesa, I'm just hoping the guy doesn't back out for some reason. As much as I love the avatar, I just wanna try something different.
And Mesa was going to be the way I went for my next cab purchase anyway. My guitarist uses an oversized Mesa 412, and the build quality amazes me. I'm not too worried about it being too low to the ground, I'm not gigging at the moment, but do plan to get an identical 8 ohm PH410 in the future.

My only complaint is the weight-It is a beast. |

Loud, punchy, clear, it colours the sound nicely, not too hifi.
Clearly above everything I've played before.

This one comes with the silver grill, but I really like the look of the vintage powerhouse cabs. Maybe another user would like to do a grill swap should this deal go through? Anyone using two of these? I'd love to see some pictures. |

| | | | The silver grill era is my favorite as they usually came with the thicker "Rhino" tolex. The newer "Bronco" tolex is much thinner and gets scuffed up so easily. You may come to really like the silver grill.

And don't get me wrong, I like the silver grill, I'd just like it to match my guitarists cab. |

| | | I owned a couple of the PH410 cabs through the years. Not bad cabs.
I use to run a Bass 400 or + on top of the PH410 on top of the PH2X15. I could kill and mame.
Only thing is those are heavy. Me no likey heavy anymore but I'm old and fat.
