I'm trying to get a warm, punchy sound. Reading about it, I think that's exactly what I'll get, but I'm no pro. Any idea guys?

I toured/gigged with a Peavey Pro 500 and pro 410 cab (had the Pro115 too, but it sounded like poo) for about 5 years. Did about 600 gigs with that rig and never once, and mean NEVER once did it fail to deliver and sound good. NEVER had an issues with the amp, not a one.

I miss the tone I had with that rig, but it was too much to carry around anymore(the 410 was 98lbs!) and went w/ Genz Benz Neo/shuttle stuff. The GB stuff is great, but i think I sounded better with teh Pro 500 and in hind sight, with I had kept the head and used the GB cabs. But I am one that says if I don't need it, don't keep it.

I think I might hunt that head down again. With the FULL Parametric EQ, You can make it sound damn near like any amp out there. Hi-Fi or Low Down and even gritty. I could get a nice SVT tone with it and then tweak it for a full on Modern tone.

Now with that said, that EQ can be your best friend and worst enemy all in one show. So please, down load the owners manual and don't be afraid to tweak the snot out of it and learn it inside and out. I had a cheat sheet of my fav. settings taped inside the lid of my rack case for it. I had 5 setting I would use on gigs and could set them up quick between songs. The owners manual had some blank layout sheets of the front along with sample settings, use them! A couple of the sample setting where my fav. (well starting point, i tweaked them a bit to my taste)

Enjoy and don't be afraid to hit my up in a PM if you need any help with amp. Like I said I lived with it for around 5 years. And I plan on getting one again.
