OPINIONS PLEASE

I have an opportunity to pick up a MESA 212 NEO Powerhouse or an Avatar 410 NEO... Any suggestions, pros, cons of the two...

Thanks!

Is this an online thing or do you have an opportunity to play through them? One's not likely to be better than the other, they'll just be different.

I prefer a bunch of 10s over a few 12s, but that's a personal thing. More surface, more air moving, yet a punchier tighter sound provided by 10s... Hell I like 10s so much, I got 8 of them myself

I'd much rather take the Mesa personally, but I like Mesa and 12's.

Very happy with the Mesa 2x12 here. Very well made. Sounds great. Able to boost or rolloff the top end and change the crossover frequency.

I have to respectfully disagree. If we were comparing an Eden 410XLT to an Aguilar GS410 or something similar, I'd say that would be a sideways comparison. However, I've always considered Avatar a "mid-tier" cabinet company and Mesa as top-shelf. The construction alone on the Mesa is going to be infinitely superior to the Avatar...unless Avatar has stepped up its game since I owned my 410 Neo seven or so years ago.

With that said, the OP may still prefer the sound of the Avatar.

I personally would opt for the Mesa Powerhouse 2x12 - without hesitation. That said, these kinds of decisions are best not made in a vacuum. You haven't provided any context, i.e. make & model of amp, tonal requirements, performance needs, etc. etc. So it's almost possible to gauge for sure which would work better - for you.

So true! My bad certainly...
I am going to be using a Genz Benz Shuttlemax 6.0.
The MESA in consideration is a 4 ohm cab rated at 600 watts while the Avatar is an 8 ohm cab rated at 1000.
If I go the MESA route there is no room for adding another cab bc of the 4ohm finality, which quite honestly with 600 watts that is plenty for my application.

However, having the flexibility to add yet another 8ohm cab is a pretty enticing thought...

Just trying to make the most educated decision that's all...

Thanks everyone!

I had carrots and green beans for dinner but I don't think they would sound good at all with the Shuttle. Especially of the green beans are the 8 ohm ones.

Seriously, play them both and go with your ears. For me it would probably be the 4-10 but that's only a guess based on past experiences.

Build quality, the Mesa has it in spades over Avatar, there's absolutely no question about that. I was referring more to the speaker config than anything else. I've owned Avatars and they're great for the money (at the price point that I bought them at least) but I'd never say that they were great.

And that's pretty much all that matters.

I'd probably choose the Mesa...the bad news is whichever you get, you'll be wanting a new amp shortly thereafter

Streamliner would work well with that PH212, also...

I'm not knocking the Avatar, but I think a Mesa cab is far superior based on my personal experiences (not to mention resale value if you ever flip it).
