Orange 70's OR GT 100

Sign in to disble this ad
i played an old orange amp last night with a 2x15 marshall cab. the back has OR GT 100 handwritten on it. serial number(handwritten as well) says 919.
the former owner pulled 2 tubes, so this should be around 50 watts, which i assume is too little power for my demands even though it was pretty loud.
does anyone here own one of these amps?
i tried several overdrive pedals but the amp took none of them very well. is this typical for the amp, as i cant really tell what has been modified apart form the missing tubes.
could this get better once i put all 4 tubes back in?
whats a reasonable price for one of these? i live in germany at the moment, and vintage gear, especially orange and ampeg is generally a bit overpriced compared to ebay(US) prices.
thanks a lot.

The amp should sound alot better with all 4 valves back in you'll have more headroom and you wont have as much of an impedence mismatch limiting the frequency response!

thanks for your reply.
what i found out. the 2x15 just sucks endlessly. i tried the head with both a 4x12 marshall and an 8x10 ampeg cab yesterday, and it was as if i were playing another head and bass guitar. especially with the tone breaking up and the overdrive pedal, there was a huge difference. i am amazed how fantastic the amp sounded with the fridge.
the seller is asking for a bit too much in my opinion though so i ll be getting an or 120 i think.
thanks anyways.
