Orange Cab Stack 212 with 210?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Terror Bass 500 and was going to stack two 210's together. I was reading about the Orange cabs and the 212 seemed to get a better review? I was thinking of getting a 212 and a 210 to stack on top. I was thinking this would give a good bottom end and punchy as well. Any thoughts on this? I was going to keep the 212 at practice and use most times and the 210 at home. That way I just have to carry the head back and forth. Then when I play out somewhere I could stack them? thoughts?

From what I have read the 2x12s seem to sound better. I would just stick with 4 12s. I play 12s and they're pretty punchy so I wouldn't worry about having a problem with that.
I would worry more about Orange in general, I always thought they had a really round mid scooped sound. Wouldn't that zap the punch from most speakers right away?

+1 2 identical cabs are always the better choice. Besides, 10's aren't "punchy" compared to other sized spkrs, that's a bit of myth. It's more to do with the overall design of the cab and speakers together.

So you guys are saying go with the stacked 212's if i'm going with orange. Would be a better sound then stacked 210's? I am looking for a vintage sound. I play Fender 62 RI in a blues band (pretty aggressive blues band).

From my experience between 10's and 12's (which really doesn't amount to much anyways), my SWR 2x10 sounds more scooped than a pair of 1x12 cabs. The 2x10 also seems to have a bit less high-end than the 12's as well, even when I solo each 1x12, they seem to just have more 'zing' to them. Sure, totally different cab designs and such, and that may be why. But if you use your EQ, you should be able to compensate slight differences.

But I think that the main issue is to stay with one sized speaker in multiple cabs. Either 10's or 12's. Mixing them can be as 'bad' as mixing 10's and 15's

My Orange Terror Bass sounds anything but scooped!
Of course this is a matter of eq setting but I would say its middy and gritty

I have the terror 500 + a 210, but faced with your choice I would definitely get 2 x 212's if you can afford it. They are not that much bigger/heavier than the 210's. They also sound sweet.

Are you happy with the sound you are getting from the 210 is the 212 a ebtter sound/tone. Again I'm a blues player looking vintage tone.

Yes I really love the sound from my 210. I can definitely recommend it, and I use it all the time for practice and gigs. I tried out both 210 and 212 at the London Guitar show. To be honest I can't remember enough about the sound from the 212 to describe it well to you. All I remember for sure is that is was at least as good as the 210, but I bought the 210 because it was cheaper and lighter. By the way there shouldn't be any problem whatsoever in mixing a 210 with a 212. Ultimately the 212 must be capable of greater bass sound output per watt especially at higher volume levels, simply due to the laws of physics!

I use an OBC115 and an SP212 with my TT Bass and it sounds fantastic. I don't see why a SP210 and an SP212 wouldn't be a fine combination, with the 212s adding a bit more rumble.

If you want the lows, go with the 12's.

Thanks guys I do have a 212 on route to me so will have that for sure. I then have the option of ordering down the road either the 212 or 210 to go with it. I have two 1x12 bergs right now and am trading in one for the 212. I want to keep one cab at band practice place (212) and one cab at home then stack when playing out at larger venue, do some out door gigs in summer. But it is expensive and loosing more then I like on the trade in. The other option is to just go with the 212 which is good for pretty much any gig I do (don't really need to stack, just good tone) and stack or beside each other with the other bergantino 1x12 which also has a horn in it which could add to the sound. Actually I did put these together once at practice (brought a 212 home from the store) and I thought it sounded pretty awsome together. Thanks for the help.
