Orange crush PiX bass amp (25 watter)

Hey. I'm a beginner bassist and I'm most probably going to get the Crush PiX bass amp (25 watts). Just wanted to know if it was any good, cause the color looked a little........feminine at first sight.

I know nothing about that one, but for that purpose I ALWAYS recommend an Acoustic B20, which you can usually find on Craigslist for $75 or less. Even $150 new is a great price for such a good sounding practice amp.

First off, grow up, what're you 12?

Second, I can't speak for the 25 watter but I gig regualrly with the 100 watter and love it, very "old school" sound, with lots of great features such as tuner, XLR out, effects loop.

Thanks for the fast replies people. I've already ordered the Orange so there's no point switching now. When you say old schooled do you think I could get that really nice mellow John Paul Jones/ Noel Redding/ sound with my Squier Vintage Mod. Jazz? Just for the record, I turned thirteen on the 10th of October.

thebassman is dee murray's #1 fan.

25w works fine for small stuff like practicing at home and fairly quiet rehearsals. i regularly use a 25w amp for gigs, too. however, my 25w amp is an ampeg b-15n, so there's a big difference between it and a solid state practice amp

I'm drooling looking at your setup man. One more thing. Would the Mel Bay Deluxe Jazz and Rock Bass Method (if you've had any experience with it) be good for after I finish the Hal Leonard Bass Method (all 3)? Or too advanced?

honestly, i think it would be more of the same. instead, i'd branch out past method books and get more into chord theory...like ed friedland's building walking basslines or maybe carol kaye's jazz bass book (forget what it's called).

Indeed I do, Dee was the player who inspired me to play bass. His bass has its own "shrine" in my studio.

gotta be honest, this is some bizarre timing. haha.
i had just found the 100 watt 1x15 on musicians friend and i have been wondering how it would sound. i hate ordering something without hearing any reviews on it, so can you tell me what kinda tone it gets? is it a one trick pony like the ad200? obviously it wont have the warmth of a tube amp but does it 'hold down the low end' as a practice/mic'd gig amp? i dont wanna carry my 8x10 everywhere so i need something that can hold its own.

It's very warm and punchy, it doesn't have a lot of trebly zing due to lack of a HF horn. Plenty loud for any venue I play(with XLR out to PA). It's not very heavy and the handles are placed where you can carry it by yourself.

ahahahah im in the same situation, I recently got a Squire VM P and im thinking of getting the 50 watt version of the amp above. As bass player as the schools only band that is willing to play at stuff i need it to fairly powerful... Basically I need an amp that can be herd above a drum kit and two guitars!
And seeing as my knowledge of bass amps is a bit... non existant i need some help from the intranets!!!
