Well, I put some JJs ECC83s in my TB500. The EQ is definitely more responsive. Overall tone? Not sure if it's changed as my hearing sucks. The original tubes gave only a cut effect for the EQ knobs, after 12:00, no change. Now I can boost the mids to 3:00 for a noticeable increase... Yes, call me crazy, I don't do the "smiley face EQ" with my bass.. I actually prefer some mids to cut though.

Anyways, the JJs were well worth the $28 I spend for the pair.

Yea people sorta stopped doing the smiley thing in 1997. :D

well... you say that, but everyone still uses their "enhance" knob up round 12 even though the graphic is flat

Every amp I see in GC still is set that way. lol But my point being, the new tubes made a difference in my amp.

Yeah they set them all up that way. For solo play it has the instant, "Man this sounds good, right here, in this one spot, so I should buy it!" effect. Take that same set up to a practice and you find yourself getting buried. Those mids are what give you some sonic space, especially in a loud mix.
