Orange Terror Paired with Ampeg 810e

First off i am considering the terror 500w.. for my budget of a rig of 1200 dollars, then recently a guy offered me a decent shape ampeg 810e for dirt cheap... first off how would these sound together has anyone done it, second im a lil curious on how these 8 10s work would i just use a speakon to 1/4 inch and insert it into the top 1/4 jack on the ampeg or whats up with that?.... p.s. i hope that didnt sound like too much jibberish

The Terror Bass merges 1/4 and Speakon outputs into one, the speaker outs look like Speakon outputs, but you can still connect with 1/4 speaker cables by just plugging into the middle hole instead of the whole thing. That's what it looks like to me anyways, I've seen that sort of thing before so I assume it works like that. Maybe someone else will confirm that.

I don't own either and haven't ever tried an Orange Terror Bass, but I think they would be a good match if you're looking for an overall dirty-ish tone. From the videos I've seen of the Bass Terror it gets dirty pretty early on in the gain stage. At halfway, it'll already be more than just a little hairy. The Ampeg 810 should be a good match for it.

I could see that sounding pretty badass. Ive heard many solid state (w/ tube pre) 500 watters that sound incredible through an Ampeg 6x10 or 8x10

i own the orange terror bass...
the 2 speakon speaker outputs are not dual speakon 1/4"...
speakon only.

Im thinking about upgrading to this head as well with the same ampeg 8X10. So we would need a speakon cable to hook up the head. Does anyone else have this setup and have input on the sound? Im play in a hardcore/rock/alternative band

i have played both (separately), and think this would be a cool setup!

while it wouldn't hurt to try, i'd run that beast wide open instead of running into half of the cab (if i read your post correctly). i'm not sure of the 810 model, or if it has speakon jacks, but that really won't matter as you can buy 1/4" to speakon cables (or easily make one from an old 1/4" to 1/4" speaker cable).

A while back I played a borrowed Terror Bass 500 head through a Ampeg 8x10pro, speakon-1/4 is required and the sound is incredible. It really has a lot of power and can drive even that massive cab as hard as I could ever want it to. Great clarity and a lot of potential for saturation. I was actually a little sad when my own amp came back from repair... I try not to GAS in general as I'm too poor and my amp is pretty decent, but I haven't been able to forget the Terror.

cool yea i want to run both sides of the cab of course, i just wasnt sure how that system worked. cool looks like im getting it amp should be here next week ill post pics and the works
