Was looking at different 1U heads and this seemed like the logical choice for me. I'm going to pair her with my Epi UL310 SII (early, lighter version). Will post the results. I'm looking forward to this rig!

This will be a great sounding rig right out of the box.
Dont be afraid to drop the low mid freq around the 9:00 position and give it a bump.
Totally adds that punch out of the wide Epifani Series 2 cabs.
I use a 410 but I am sure this will work with the 310 as well.
Have fun!! |

When I powered my wiiiide UL310 with my wiiiiide UL502, the result was, well, wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide... But I guess the mid punch and tight lows in the F500 will work great with your cab! Please keep us posted on how it sounds.

For the most part, I run my F500 and 410UL totally flat, and at most dial in just a smidge of VPF (contour) in small/dry rooms, and a smidge of lower mids between 100 and 200hz in large boomy rooms.
The DI is great also! |

Have fun!! | How does the F500 compare with the ShuttleMax 12? |

Both are bright and tight and sound great with the UL cabs. The Max 6 is a LOT larger, and has the dual preamps. Other features (dual concentric mid EQ's, full featured DI, variable voicing filters, etc) are quite similar. If you dug one, you would almost definitely like the other... tight, bright, articulate, loud! To my ear, the Shuttle Max 6 using the FET channel with a bit of EQ adjustment (a bit more low end rolled in) sounds quite similar to the F500.
Joey is running two 4ohm 410UL's... and man with the dual mono Shuttle Max 12 pumping those 600 or so watts per side into each cab, that must thunder like heck!

| | | My LMIII and Epi UL-410 is indeed a fantastic match and I can only imagine the F500 would be just as good if not better!
You may want to skip the rack and go for the soft bag. I have the soft bag for my LMIII and its really sweet.

I can get the Shuttle Max 12 to sound pretty much identical to the F500 using the FET channel. The Tube channel set clean with just a touch of edge is awesome. I use the tube channel as a boost for certain songs, parts, etc.
Yeah, my present rig is sick. My gigging situation changed from small clubs to large theaters so I needed something that can be heard. Man does the Shuttle Max sound killer through the 2 Epi 4 ohm cabs. Tight and Punchy at any volume. I had to tame the bass down on the amp cuz it was sooo huge. But, back to the OPs new amp.... It is gonna rock! |

| | Registered User | | | | | I also have the F500 and an Epi UL410 (S1) plus an Epi UL112 (S1), and they go great together! BTW, I also have a TC RH450 with RS210 and RS212 cabs coming in, so it'll be interesting comparing those rigs :-) |

Paired with my Epi UL310 SII and my 77 Jazz and ATK750 she faired very well overall. Plenty of volume and headroom. Felt just as strong as the LittleMark I used to have. I did have to do a little EQ to attain the tone I was after (although with everyone there and rolling from one song to another, I did not have a lot of time to play with the EQ).
I had to cut the lows a notch or so (11ish o'clock) and bump the mids to achieve the proper balance for the room. Highs were left flat. Horn on the cab was at 12:00 (50%).
I was expecting the head to sound thinner than my old LMII, but to my surprise, it really didn't. Of course I no longer have my LMII to A/B the two, but the tone was rich and deep on the F500.
So she passed the rehearsal test. I have a pretty big gig this eve (of course the bass will be put to the front of the house as well). More tomorrow!

high mid freq set around 10:00 and low mids around the 9:00 with a little bump and bass set flat.
The F500 and Epifani UL series cab match up very well. I am not surprized that you dig the amp.
I liked it better than the LM as well!!
Have a great gig! And, report back! |

| | | | Hey, how does the LMII stack up when used with just an Epi UL 210? I'm trying to decide whether to get the 210 or the 115 first. Eventually, I'm planning to have both and run the full 500 watts. |
