Could be a super early model. Send Demeter the pic? See what they say?

That makes entirely too much sense.

It's real. This is how I remember the Demeter's to be back in the late 80's/early 90's. Fantastic sounding pre-amp.

Looks like a bona fide early model to me.

Here's my VTBP-201:

That is the ORIGINAL DEMETER preamp.. its the real deal.. I had one exactly like it back in the mid 1980s from Demeter himself

Entirely possible, everyone starts somewhere. But it could also be a copy.

Ditto, I had one myself I bought in '81. It's real. It was voiced slightly different than the newer ones and sounded better IMO.

Here is reply from Diane Demeter:

It is real, one of the really old ones

2 svtb15: there is one output on the left of the back side without any text. What is it used for?

I dont remember. I sold it in 1989.
Some were sold Without the DI out.. Just a preamp.. The DI out was an option... Mine had the DI..
I also had the same stick on plastic labels on the back of mine as in teh photos... and the toggle switch on the front of the amp. push buttons came later on.

Is that you that bid on it? $225 seems a steal. Only 19 hours to go...tempting. Big project at work tomorrow, but if it goes smoothly I just might be home in time to.. um.. see how it ends.

Heheheheh.
