Output transformer (Fender Studio Bass)

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an old Fender Studio Bass amp (just the chopped head, not the combo). Love the beast, but it's limited to only an 8 Ohm load (Fender p/n 012991). I would like to use multiple cabs, but it just ain't possible.

I was considering a Super Twin transformer (Fender p/n 012413) but it is rated for only 4 ohms.

Can the Studio Bass output transformer be rewound with 8/4 Ohm taps so I could have more speaker options? Can anyone suggest a company that does this? Thanks.

Mercury has them regular, 4 & 8, or 4, 8 & 16 ohm versions.
