overpowering speaker cabinet with Ampeg SVT-6 PRO amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I have a question to the amg-guys out there!

Would you recommend using an Ampeg SVT-6 PRO amp [750 Watts RMS, 8 ohm load] in combination with a SWR 400 Watts, 8 ohm speaker cabinet?

Can the Ampeg SVT-6 PRO amplifier be used with a 16 ohm load? What is the power output when used with a 16 ohm load?

How can I add another 8 ohm to my set-up (one 4 x 10'' SWR 400 Watts, 8 ohm speaker cabinet) whithout adding another speaker cabinet in series?

Cheers
Mario

1. sure, just watch your volume.

2. yes. i don't know what the power would be but it will be approx half of its 8 ohm output.

3. you plug it in. none of your connections on your head and cabs are serial connections...they are all parallel. so just plug it in any way you want and the head recognizes the load by itself.

+1 to Jimmy, that's a very underrated amp, and I think it's the best sounding of all the Pro series heads. Lots of available power, punchy as all get out, and warm "tubey" tone. Use it with a 4 ohm load, (2x 8 ohm 410's) and rock the world.
