Overton Flyweight200 Markbass NY151 mismatch? Issues Hello everyone, I recently tried an Overton Flyweight200 at a shop in Chicago thru an overton cab. Thought it was incredible so I got it. The next day, I went down to the practice space and hooked it up to my Markbass NY151. Half volume and up it pretty much just distorts, but doesn't seem to get any louder. The speaker itself is moving an alarming amount, far more than I've ever seen and it just doesn't seem right at all. The cab is 8ohms and the head is 4ohms, which I thought was supposed to be a kosher load match. The tone itself I actually kind of like though it is very distorted, but I can't risk ruining the only cab I have that cost me a lot of money. I'm using a speak-on cable to connect the two and playing my P-bass if that makes a difference to anyone. Anyone know what could possibly be the deal? I really wanted this new head to work out. |
Some ideas... What kind of bass did you use at the shop? I assume your p bass is passive? The FY200 doesn't have an overload/clip light. Did you try lowing the input gain? Turning the compression off? Did you listen trough headphones? Edit: And I'm sure there's not some specific cabinets brands it works with. I used mine with a TCE RS212 (8ohm), Berg HT112 (8ohm) and GB Uber 410 (4ohm), and all were fine. |
