I used to play with a drummer who also had a pretty hefty PA and he would use it for good-sized outdoor gigs and things like that. He also played electronic drums and he would usually bring one column of his PA to play through. I really enjoyed it when he let me plug into his set up because he used a Bag End sub with 4x18s for the bottom end and it sounded great. Fun times.

Well, I suppose anytime I'm running D.I. to the FOH I'm using a P.A. as a bass cab....so here ya go:

Crown XLS1500 into a modded fEARful (3015LF, 6ND410, XD125)...

I redesigned the crossovers to be more accurate right across the range. I use it as a general-purpose amp for music, bass, guitar, whatever. Works beautifully and stays clean up to stupid volume levels

That Funkshion one setup is a pretty good bass rig in my experience.

I tried it today on rehearsal , the sound is absolutely unbelievable
Wow.....
Nice... that sh*t is downtown!

What's the system vital statistics?

Cost = $1.5k +$2.5k = $4k

Power rating = 1kw+500w+250w = 1.75 kw

Weight = 60 + 29 = +/-90 lbs.

Is that about right?

That's pretty fricken awesome.

===

FWIW I have almost the same money tied up in a greenboy 1515/66+1 with a BMS horn driver + Crown iTech 6000 [amp was used + factory reconditioned with 1 yr. warranty] rig which spec's out as follows:

Cost = $1.8k +$1.6k = $3.4k

Power rating = 3kw - per side*

Weight = 90 + 28 = +/-120 lbs.**

*I am using only one channel - the other drives our eDrum kit [kik & toms & special perc.s] - also its set to run with 3 dB of head room so crest factor and duty cycle benefit when run to its limits - and offers a full DSP suite [though I am only using the HPF and voltage limiting elements which are probably intrinsic to your rig so probably a wash?]

** Same number of parts but more total weight - ameliorated to some degree in that the cab has tilt-n-go wheels and handles which make for a highly schleppable unit - also amp can be [currently is] mounted in a rolling rack [more weight / less effort] and obviously since it also drives the eDrums I get a guaranteed additional set of hands to move the amp section.

Don't think I would pay to trade up to your rig - not even sure I'd swap given the eDrum capability I'd lose - but I sure would like to play through it!

current rack

Yep , that's about right , but the 108p will be half price (used)
They are 'effin expensive but it's like they say: you get what you pay for. (in that case anyway)
They are surprising too in standalone without the sub , for a single 8". The dispersion of that coax drivers is also really amazing , very equal all around.

Your kit looks like it moves a lot of air !!!

This was a multi event gig I played at a few weeks ago. This was the yoga portion of the event.... just out of the shot is a room full of people on mats. The woman in the center is the instructor

Back in the 70's - my main bass amp was a Peavey 300 PA head. It sounded good with 2 - 2x15 Peavey cabs with JBL D-140F's ! I have also played a gig with a Peavey XR600B PA head - it sounded awesome with a 4x10 cab.
