Pairing GK RB 1001 with (the new) GK MBE 212 cab...work?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi TB-ers.

Purchased the GK RB 1001, (on the Rec's of you kats) and am very pleased with its consistent Tone...
not to mention that this head is VERY powerful also. thank you all.
I have it married (& a decent pairing, i might add...) with my Ampeg 4x10 HLF {we're talking 4 ohm here..btw}
I use this config. mostly on weekly Clubdates, Corporate Jobs, Weddings, etc...
however, my back is starting to feel the cumbersome bulk of that cab.
(yes,...even with the casters..apparently a lot of halls didn't accommodate "properly"
for the loading of heavy equip., so stuff needs to be carried alot of the times...
but that's another story...lol)

Thus, i want to change the cab to something lighter.
(i will keep the HLF in storage as a 'big gun' if needed for big halls with no sub)

I checked things out, (to some degree)
and wound up putting the new GK 212 MBE on order,
since its specs was: 600w @ 4 ohms, 2x12 cab & only 34lbs.,
it seems that it would be a 'decent' pairing with the RB 1001 (700w @ 4ohms)
{not to mention my back thanking me for this move...}

Thus, {again} the question:
i hear that this cab was made for the MB heads....
am i making an 'unrealized' mistake in compatibility here?...
{i think "garagebassman"'s previous post scratched the surface, a little}
...any advice &/or feedback on my decision?....
{Mr. Gallien, you out there?..lol}

thanks...
